Fairlawn’s Garden Work Day

We need your help! We are looking for volunteers to help us maintain Fairlawn’s beautiful gardens. No experience necessary! Just bring gloves and any tools if you have them. Enjoy working on Fairlawn’s gardens with others who love gardening. Our gardener will be on hand to work with you.

Chester Day

On June 12th, we invite you to Glensheen to celebrate Chester Day with us. It will be the 165th birthday of one of Duluth’s most historically impactful figures, Chester Congdon. Those who visit Glensheen on June 12th will be given a free Chester-like mustache, and those who arrive bearing their own Chester influenced mustache will be given free entry onto Glensheen’s grounds.

Open Paddle Night

Every Tuesday night we hold an Open Paddle Night for the community to come together for a night of paddling. We usually warm up with a game of frisbee or tag coupled with dynamic stretching.

Letters to Prisoners

Superior Save the Kids organizes twice monthly meetings in solidarity with people behind bars. No experience necessary! Find us all the way in the back of the library at a table. Writing letters puts us in touch with mass incarceration and what it means rather than allowing us to look away from the system which is built on racial and economic injustice; a political act that provides comfort.

NorShor Poetry Series featuring Ryan Vine

This evening’s featured poet will be Ryan Vine. Ryan Vine’s debut full collection To Keep Him Hidden (Salmon, 2018) was a finalist for the May Swenson Prize, the New Issues Prize, the Crab Orchard Series, the MVP Prize from New Rivers Press, and—selected by Robert Pinsky—the Dorset Prize. Kathleen Roberts and Rocky Makes Room For Them will also be the opening acts for the evening.
