Long winter nights in the North provide an apt metaphor for dark times of the soul, characterized by loneliness, longing, and even despair. Composers of the Nordic countries frequently contrast such themes with those of hope, light, and finding strength to sing even in the darkest of times. Soprano Regan Hjelle and pianist Emily Valine present this musical journey.
