The Celebrated Matiegka

Wencelaus Matiegka was a contemporary of Franz Schubert, Fernando Sor, Mauro Giuliani, and Ludwig van Beethoven, and he was equally revered as a composer during his lifetime. In this program, guitarist Mina Kaiser performs three sonatas by Matiegka, followed by Matiegka’s transcription of Beethoven’s Adelaide, joined by tenor William Bastian.

Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind

An ensemble experiment in presenting 30 plays - comic, tragic, political, personal and abstract – in 60 minutes. The original production opened in 1988 and is still playing today as the longest-running show in Chicago history. Each two-minute play is performed in random order with an interactive audience.
