Calling all volunteers! Lend a hand however your schedule allows and join the St. Louis River Alliance on Thursday August 6th from 3:00-6:00pm! During this volunteer maintenance day, we will be handling unwanted vegetation within targeted areas on Wisconsin Point Bird Sanctuary. If the wind and weather cooperates, we will be managing the invasives by burning them on site. Participants are encouraged to email Mikayla, at watertrail@stlouisriver.org if they are interested in helping at one, both, or all three of these days so we have enough tools to go around. Gloves, buckets, shovels, and contracting bags will be provided. Please feel free bring your own equipment/materials if you have them. No prior experience needed; safety and plant identification will be provided. Bending, pulling, burning, and digging are part of the management plan and will require physical movement to complete. The sand will make pulling easier inside the site, and we will be using shovels and gloves to manage vegetation where it is needed. Come as long or as little as you'd like, and check out the site to learn more about how the 2026 season went! More hands, and more smiles make for easier work.
