The St. Scholastica fall band concert features a fantastical program inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, including some of Howard Shore’s beloved music from the films. Long before the film adaptations, Johan de Meij’s incredible Symphony No.1, The Lord of the Rings, became a pillar of the wind band world. Finally, the band will feature works by Kevin Day and Erika Svanoe, both composed through a consortium that encouraged composers to write a work inspired by the video games of their childhoods.
