Mount Olive Lutheran Church  invites the public to an Open House in celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2022, Mount Olive will showcase the architecture and special features of its 116-year-old, historic church building. A self-guided tour highlights seven stations and presenters. Refreshments will be served following the tour. The church’s story includes a few unusual twists. • Discover how an Episcopalian cathedral became a Lutheran church. • See how Flag River Quarry brownstone was made available in 1993, more than 80 years after the quarry closed. • Explore why the church was constructed like a boat. • Find out how and why the sanctuary was reversed. • Learn how a deteriorated, clear window was transformed to a new stained glass window.
