It's the summer of 2008 in small-town Vermont. Marty has gained approval to hold a six-week adult drama class, and if you include her husband, four people have signed up. Over the course of these six weeks, Marty leads her motley troupe through intense avant-garde theater exercises, with unexpected bonds forming in the awkward small talk of downtime water breaks.
