Patricia Canelake, originally from Virginia, Minnesota, now lives in the historic fishing town of Knife River on the north shore of Lake Superior. Her residence is in the center of Knife River and her renovated studio is next door to a business shared with her sister, Great!Lakes Candy Kitchen. The Little League World Series has concluded this afternoon with international champion Japan besting the United States champion from Goodlettsville, TN, by a 12-2 score. The male scarlet tanager is colored with a flaming scarlet body and contrasting black wings. The female is dull-green over dull-yellow in color. When seen against the contrasting green of the forest, the male sticks out “like a sore thumb.” Females tend to blend in with their surroundings.
