Art opening: Kathy McTavish

Kathy McTavish’s new exhibit, “count. map pulse. Breathe" runs through Feb. 29. McTavish is a media composer, cellist and installation artist whose work blends data, text, code, sound and abstract, layered moving images. In late 2018, Kathy started working with her machines and a computer controlled, long-arm, quilting machine. The result is new work that can be considered an archive or work product of her machines - generative textile drawings.

Minnesota Ballet's "The Nutcracker"

Holiday magic begins with the Minnesota Ballet’s production of the holiday favorite, sparkling with merry holiday party, battling soldiers and mouse warriors, whirling snowflakes, captivating Sugar Plum Fairy, dramatic dancers from exotic lands, waltzing flowers. Meet the Ghosts of Christmas Past during a lights-off tour of Fairlawn Mansion. The elaborately decorated mansion will light your way through the darkened house where guests will learn Victorian and Children’s Home holiday traditions and ghosts from the past.
