Musician Jeff Beck sang sarcastically that “The revolution will be televised.”

It sure is. Everyday. Right before our eyes.

Beck sang about apathy in the midst of a revolt that in the end won’t include the ideals of a civil society:

“The revolution it will be televised

And you can choose to watch or not

But if we all just tut from the safety of our sofas

There won’t be much of a revolution to watch”

Beck wrote that 10 years ago as a new administration of grifters and autocrats began its assault on the republic. Ten years later a new class has risen to the surface, a predatory class that cares little for the ongoing American Experiment.

The tech billionaires and American oligarchs, the far right ideologues and diplomats with no diplomatic experience, the crypto mongers and AI enthusiasts have all found leaving the nation in the capable hands of one Donald V. (for vindictive) Rumpt is much to their liking.

They talk about it all the time. They hide nothing of their intentions to phase out the democratic experiment for a more settled and modern form of economic and social feudalism with them at the helm.

And they’re taking aim at all corners of the world.

“I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible,” said Peter Thiel, inventor of PayPal, mentor of current vice-president J.D. Vance.

Vance is best known for his shape-shifting political views and eagerness to be a sycophant to the rich and powerful, to the new revolution run by the one percent of the one percent.

Democracy of the people, by the people and for the people is for fuddy-duddies, according to this rarified crowd. Lincoln and his foolish hopes be damned.

And it is being televised or streamed live on a daily basis.

The blabbermouths are telling all of us what they plan to do, but apparently most of us aren’t listening. The majority is standing on the sidelines, hands in pockets, unaware of the plans being made for all us suckers.

According to journalist Anne Applebaum, writing in the October issue of The Atlantic, a different batch of revolutionaries are now pushing the MAGA movement in new and different directions. And it’s being televised on a daily basis.

“The predator clan does not talk about spreading democracy,” she writes. “It does not care about America’s reputation. It is deploying the tools of American diplomacy for its own business interests and ideological goals.”

Applebaum notes that in modern times revolutionary movements such as the Bolsheviks and Maoists have sought to change not only a single country but the international order as well.

Beck intoned that apathy and indifference are fuel for that fire. In 2026 this latest revolution is moving ahead without us.

“The clan of predators currently in charge of the U.S. federal government is no different,” Applebaum says. “Wrongly described as ‘isolationists,’ many of its true believers don’t think of themselves as ordinary Republicans who won an election and will temporarily hold power until the next election. Nor are they mere appendages of Trump. They believe they represent something much greater: the vanguard of a movement that will alter not just America, but the world.”

At last year’s Munich Security Conference, Vance wagged a finger at the Europeans for what he said was their caving into multiculturalism and losing their European roots. He clumsily implied Europe was not acting its old historically white Christian self by allowing waves of mass migration to dilute its old traditional self.

In 2026, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, son of immigrants, repeated that claim with a slightly more polite tone.

As masked ICE agents were rounding up citizens and the undocumented in the American homeland, as the administration was working feverishly to deport naturalized citizens it doesn’t like, those with green cards and visas as well as asylum seekers from places like Haiti and Venezuela, he said America and Europe should work together for our “shared history, Christian faith, culture, heritage, language, ancestry.”

From the Americas to Europe, the clan of predators has chosen to sidle up with far right ideologues and oligarchs who gleefully cheer for the kind of revolution the United States is promoting.

The revolution will be televised on every channel once any lingering and feeble resistance is swept away and the American people and the world have fallen prey.

Now is not the time to stand on the sidelines with hands in your pockets.

Time to resist and make sure the revolution that will be televised is yours and mine.
