Will Washington glisten with Trump’s gilt, guilt, grift and gold?
I can’t pass this one up. After Texas Trumper Governor Gregg Abbott finished his keynote speech at the Texas Trumplican Party Convention, he said he had “a larger than life” surprise for the MAGAs. 
He had arranged for a large African female elephant to march into the hall with a huge campaign-themed banner on her back and sides.

As she marched into the George E. Brown Convention Center main floor, she suddenly stopped and unabashedly unloaded her large bladder on the main floor, indicating what she thought of his anti-science woke-hating and pro-Trump speech. 

It was the perfect silent response. But I digress….

Donald Trump keeps denying he had ever read Adolph Hitler’s Mein Kampf, but his first wife Ivanka told a reporter that he did have a copy of Hitler’s pre-1939 speeches titled My New Order on a table by his bed.

Hitler had written that “The Big Lie” is a big propaganda tool because it is “a lie so huge no one can believe it’s false. If leaders repeat it often enough, refusing t admit it is a lie, come to think it is the truth because surely no one would make up anything so outrageous.”

Actually, in his autobiography, Hitler wrote that people were more likely to believe a giant lie rather than a little one because they were willing to tell small lies in their own lives but “would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. Since they could not conceive of telling colossal untruths, they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this is to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still start and waver and will continue to think there may be some other explanation.”

Back in the 1940s the Office of Strategic Services (our  present CIA) described the “Big Lie” in Hitler’s psychological profile: “His primary rules were never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big wrong sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it. Parroting the lie becomes a loyalty pledge, even if — especially if — you don’t actually believe it.”

Somehow, Donald Trump, in his lying, addled, ignorant brain, has assembled the Big Lie as his only daily “truth.” Being of German extraction, perhaps his DNA can be matched to both Nero of Rome and Hitler of Berlin.

I have been reading Heather Cox Richardson’s work for more than a decade, and she does a remarkable job of covering the malignant narcissism of all three in her 2023 book DEMOCRACY AWAKENING: Notes on the State of America.

Her first two sentences in her “Forward” states her position: “America is at a crossroads. A country which has stood as the global symbol of democracy has been teetering on the brink of authoritarianism.”

Ruled and possessed by a Malignant Narcissist, that is. A country that has not had one would be a real historical find.

Historians have gone back to the Eighth Century BCE that King Midas of Phrygia (in central Turkey) even had planted a “lavish” rose garden by his huge palace. The Greek historian Herodotus wrote about it in the Fifth Century BCE.

The Lyin’ King Donald (“I’m the Greatest President in History”) just covered with concrete a rose garden that was in back of the White House. It was designed by President Woodrow Wilson’s wife in 1913 and enlarged by President John Kennedy in 1961.

Trump used it often to plant “The Big Lie” until he decided to bury it
If the Trumplican Party wants to name a party flower, I suggest they plant a Titan Arum, a large flower with the Latin name Amorphophallus titanium, which is also called the “Corpse Flower” or “Penis Plant.”

The conservatives are either trying to legislate lots of sex or are trying desperately to limit its performance, so it seems to be appropriate choice to me.

It has some unusual characteristics. It looks like an erect penis. When it blooms, it heats up and emits a very foul odor that attracts lots of carrion bugs, flies, beetles and fills ICE deportation centers. Some say it creates the stench of rotting meat, old sweat socks and old garbage.

Like present-day Trumplican politicians, it stays dormant underground for an exceedingly long period doing nothing. It only stays blooming for about 24 hours and usually picks January 6 each year.

Your Choice: The Real King Midas or the Mythological King Midas
In the Assyrian language the real King Midas was known as “Mita of Mushki” and ruled Phrygia with a golden hand from 750 to 690 BCE.

He was a friendly but foolish type who formed alliances with neighboring states that he turned into satellites. His capital city was heavily fortified Gordion with a massive palace which was near present-day Polath, Turkey.

Aristotle claimed King Midas died of starvation after being invaded by Cimmerian tribes. Other ancient historians said he committed suicide by drinking bull’s blood, a method supposedly used by several historical figures, including Hannibal and Themistocles.

Outside Gordion is a 150-foot mound called the Midas Mound. A wooden structure built by humans lies inside containing the tomb of royalty, most likely Midas himself or his father. Maybe some day DNA will prove it.

They were both known as wealthy and very greedy leaders. It’s rumored the phrase “All that Glitters is not Gold’ started with these two.

The phrase appears in 12th century French literature and was also used by Geoffrey Chaucer in a 1380 poem titled “The House of Fame” in Old English: “is not al golde that glareth.”

King Midas had such a reputation for the collection of gold that Roman and Greek philosophers and writers developed myths around his character. Myths were often the subjects of Athenian plays.

Greeks and Romans had dozens of gods and myths. In one myth, Dionysus  grants a wish of King Midas that he would like to turn everything he touches into gold. It is granted, but when Midas touches food, it turns to gold, and he turns his daughter into a gold statue when he touches her. He asks Dionysus to remove the curse because he’s starving. So, Dionysus tells King Midas to bathe and scrub his hands in the Pactolus River. That river is known today as one that has a lot of gold in it.

The moral of this myth — if there is one?
Greed is dangerous and wealth cannot replace family or life’s necessities like food and water.

In another Greek myth often portrayed on stone stages, King Midas acts as judge in a musical contest between Pan blowing pipes and Apollo playing the lyre. He angers Apollo for choosing Pan as the winner. As punishment for that poor choice, Apollo turns King Midas’s ears into those of a donkey.

There are more myths but two are enough to make a point. King Midas was greedy for gold and was also a sexual predator, jerk, prick, asshole, malignant narcissist, socio-psychopath and war criminal on Planet Earth just like thousands of kings, presidents and prime ministers comparable to the one who is currently president of the Divided States of America.

I have read many articles, stories, and opinion pieces written by transgender people of all ages. This one by a California high schooler is the best one I have read about the condition. Lina Haaga’s first two paragraphs: “For as long as I can remember, I have known I am a girl. That certainty is as instinctive as knowing I am right-handed. It is difficult to explain to someone who has never been transgender or loved someone who is, but I have never lived this way to gain an advantage or take something from someone else. I live this way to honor what I know is true.

I transitioned at four years old. By sixth grade, my identity was public. I grew used to the doubletakes, the questions, the quiet skepticism. Most of it did not bother me. Curiosity, even when clumsy, is human. People understand gender differently, and I was taught to respect all ideas, just as I hope others respect mine.” 

Remember, at this point, our ignorant, spiteful and malignant narcissistic president wrote an executive order stating that his administration would recognize only two genders of Homo sapiens.

In April of 2026 Lina was running in a private school league track championship with her older sister. In prior meets her sister had always won their race in the 400 meters and she placed second. But, in their third race, Lina won the race by milliseconds.

Her teammates rushed to her, cheering wildly and congratulating her. Her parents celebrated in the stands and shared the victory with others. Her “transgender” win made the newspapers and TV news.
Here are a few comments: “Trans Boy Beats Sister for Gold,” “Another biological male wins high school track championship,” “Transgender heiress, 14, steals victory from her own SISTER at California race,” “Freak,” “Put it in a padded room,” “Monster,” and “What a creep.”

The following is what Lina wrote about the negative comments: “Through each degrading claim and ostentatious headline, I realized the conversation was more malevolent than I anticipated. Not because of what they said about my performance, but because of what they said about my character. This was not a healthy debate about fairness in sports; it was about my worth as a person. I suggest you start listening to transgender people, reading reputable reporting and engaging with research. Organizations like the Trevor Project offer livid experiences of transgender youth. Peer-reviewd studies in the British Journal of Sports Medicine or the National Center for Biotechnology information provide a deeper scientific context. Because no child, transgender or cisgender, should be forced to endure the cruelty of uninformed adults. Behind every headline, every comment, there is a person. There is a life that absorbs the gravity of your actions and the weight of your words.”

Believe it: Ten percent of the world’s population is LBGTQUIA+
The Divided States of America has 34 million members of the LBGT community and 3.4 million transgender people in the total population of 340 million.

• Gay and Lesbian-67% are men
• Bisexual-women make up 72% of bisexual adults.
Scientists studying gender have identified 74 “different” genders-so far-from asexual (not interested at all) to sexual addiction (sex every hour).
