Lillian Hellman was in Germany in 1936, where she watched fascism rising in Europe, and wrote this play in 1941 as a warning to America. First performed eight months before the U.S. entered WWII, it explores the conflict between choosing to confront what is going on in the world and looking the other way.

A billion years ago, a chain of volcanoes erupted enormous lava flows that repaved the surface of the Earth and nearly split the North American continent in half. Geology professor Tom Fitz presents a slideshow of the record that is now exposed along the shores of Lake Superior.

Kilgour is a confessional poet at heart; her songs set out in pursuit of the universal truths within her own fears, loves and longings. Percussionist Zack Baltich creates work to inspire curiosity in the creation of sound and instigate empathy in the form of emotional resonance.

The New York City-based classical music quartet was formed in 2019 with a vision to revisit, rediscover and reinvigorate the repertory with the idea of “approaching the established as if it were brand new, and the new as if it were firmly established.” They won the Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022.
