This is your brain on Jesus
I’m saddened that Marijuana is legal and now in business. What message are we giving seeing long lines of “drug users” instead of for ice cream? From downtown Duluth to Lakeside family shops like DQ ice cream now Tobacco, Family insurance now Liquor store, Fitness place now Brewery, and Bank now Legacy Cannabis as some examples of Duluth’s decline. Why only a few people wrote to the newspapers against  legalization of Marijuana and the increase of tobacco and alcohol businesses?

Why did the City Council approve all these “Vice” businesses in family neighborhoods? There are now 3 Liquor businesses from 45th Ave E to 56th Ave E Superior St (one on every 3.6 blocks) plus restaurants that serve alcohol in the former  many decades “ Alcohol free Lakeside” !” How quickly family businesses closed and now  presently are 9 Liquor stores just in the small East side of Lakeside / Mt Royal / and Woodland. What message are we giving to our children?

Why hasn’t there been continuous information in Duluth Newspapers plus TV News about the dangers of Marijuana since it has been legalized? Warnings:Cannabis can cause increased heart rate,red eyes,dry mouth,dizziness,anxiety, and impaired coordination. Long term effects include respiratory problems from smoking (Cancer), potential mental health issues like psychosis,or worsening depression(memory loss,impaired thinking),and cannabis hyperemesis syndrome causing persistent nausea and vomiting. Also panic attacks, hallucinations, delusions. During pregnancy Pot can harm fetal development and young people are at risk for permanent IQ loss. Actually these symptoms pretty much include other drugs like alcohol.

A  1980’s commercial showed an egg and he said” this is your brain” then showed the frying pan and said “this is drugs” and dropped the egg into the frying pan then said “this is your brain on drugs, any questions”? They fry your brain.

Does the Cannabis store owner have a list of these potential side affects on the wall?
Pot is used to try calming nerves and worries, curiosity or for acceptance. We need positive and productive examples to manage problems without drugs. I’m Christian and go to Jesus if troubled, scared, or lonely, for He calms me immediately and helps me focus on something positive. Jesus rose from the dead and is alive .Jesus said “Come to me all you that labour and are heavy laden,and I will give you rest”Matthew 11:28” Choose Jesus, not drugs!
