Time to open our eyes

What are the two greatest conspiracy theories that have even been used to deceive the public? First perhaps the persistent double downing and lies used by Donald Trump, who won the Presidency (again) in 2024!--mainly by using a clever network of lies and disinformation to fuel Trump’s anti-- Constitutional path, giving him control over many our constitutionally based system of laws, freedoms, and facts.

The 2nd is perhaps how Trump’s anti-EPA government ignores the pesky facts unearthed by a plethora of very well educated Climate Scientists.

Since 1980 Republican think tanks and Oligarchs, have prevented the public from knowing the truth—that deniers (euphemistically called contrarians), are trying to discredit the mountain of evidence affirming that “human industries,” using carbon based sources, (are) abnormally warming our planet’’ Why?—deniers need to cover up clear scientific evidence that proves carbon based energy has added billions of metric tons of C02 to our atmosphere each year—making the usually self-renewing process of nature unable to maintain its natural balance of C02. But Republican Think tanks and Republican deniers have managed to keep the public unaware of the dangers ahead of us—all of us—Russia, America, India, China, and all the countries on Earth—because our atmosphere encircles the entire world and therefore affects every country on our planet. Yet deniers are still convincing many of us that the reality we face is merely a scam used by “greedy climate Scientists,” (substitute, greedy oil company executives if you want), who want to control or our world’s energy systems?

Currently the US Congress is anti-global warming and anti-science. So, Elliott Negin, a writer and a college of climate scientists, wrote in “The Equation,” about climate scientists, (who produce global warming research), while completely aware of ExxonMobil’s numerous lies)! Here are some facts!
Mobil—(now Exxon Mobil), spent at least $39 million on “about 70 conservative organizations since 1998”--more than any other funder, except the Koch brothers.

Rex Tillerson, (former CEO of Exxon) emphasized his company’s long standing talking point of (Scientific Uncertainty)--even though his own scientists have warned us that atmospheric C02 could cause “potentially catastrophic global warming—way back in 1977? But because their data was not 100% provable, Tillerson used that fact to ignore his company’s research and hang onto his companies’ immense profits--(which would be endangered if Exxon failed to protect itself by lying). However, The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded by then, that: “Most of the increase in average global temperatures since 1950 was, ‘very likely,’ due to increases in –man-made carbon emissions”—even though Tillerson told interviewers “he had seen no scientific studies to confirm [one].”

Tillerson once claimed that “the Federal Government should end subsidies for renewable energy, saying “I mean wind has received subsidies for more than 20 years now.” and said, “Maybe if the subsidy was taken off and it was challenged to perform, people would take it to a new level.” But interviewer (Charlie Rose) added,”Its bizarre that our top national energy priority is ending federal support for renewables...what about the oil and gas industries subsidies and tax breaks?” which may sound  fair, but at that time, the oil and gas industry had been receiving an average of $4.8 billion (in 2010 tax dollars), in annual federal tax breaks and subsidies--(for nearly year)--Making funding for other renewables, like solar and wind, look like peanuts, Compared to Exxon Mobil’s enormous funding.

Tillerson’s successor, Darren Woods, carried on his companies tradition against deceit admirably--during a 2021 hearing, the (House Oversight and Reform Committee) asked Woods, if he would “commit right here, to stop funding organizations that reject the science of global warming,” He answered, “We do not support climate denial,” and then added “We do not ask people to lobby for anything different than our publicly supported decisions”--In other words, (We ignore the findings of our own scientists} in order to keep making huge profits.”

Over the years deniers and contrarians have argued that there’s still is no proof of global warming, or that, AGW is not happening as fast as was first thought. They also claim that, if America no longer relied on oil and gas products, China, India and Russia would!--which may be entirely true, but the same climate produce extremes that are occurring all around the would--because our atmosphere encircles and influences the entire world!—So reducing AGW includes changing he global warming actions of every industrial nation to produce the desired results—i.e. it requires the efforts of the entire world!

Though climate scientist have effectively rebutted every argument made by deniers, our oil executives still don’t care much about helping to mitigate the effects of global warming--so each year, we see more hurricanes, tornadoes, uncontrollable forest fires, Biblical flooding, huge blizzards, and the, normally atypical fluctuations of warm and cold temperatures are becoming more pronounced! However, the arguments of deniers continue to get more difficult to justify. So--let’s quit all the denia, open our eyes,l and try to actually do something to ensure the future for our children and for our amazing planet!
