But it spawned a successful and slightly more realistic (minus the bat and the undead Rasputin) Broadway musical, here tailored for young actors and audiences.

A wife decides to cheer up her husband, in midlife crisis, with a novel idea for a surprise birthday party: a funeral so people can talk about his best attributes. He gets wind of the plan and thinks she intends to kill him. Mayhem snowballs from there.

Whispers and War Letters

Two one-act plays on the weekend before Veterans Day. Whispers is about a young woman grieving the death of her father, an Iraq war casualty. War Letters focuses on three generations of women left behind by a man on a peacekeeping mission overseas.

Sarah Delappe’s Off Broadway drama, a 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist, is about nine girls on a high school soccer team working through the adolescent issues that come from struggling to fit in while also trying to define themselves as individuals.
