Breanne Marie & The Front Porch Sinners Every other Friday from Jan. 5, 8-10 p.m. Caddy Shack Breanne & co. heat things up every other week in January and February, performing their signature Great Lakes Country followed by a set with a different special guest each night. The first show features Erin Aldridge from the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra.  

Boxcar Friday, Jan. 5, 8 p.m. Pizza Lucé Kick off the first Friday of 2024 with Duluth’s own rail-jumping country-grass-rock-jam band fronted by Blake Shippee, seeking to cleanse whisky-soaked souls in the names of George Jones. Hank Williams and John Prine.  

Duluth for Mandela: A Northland Celebration Saturday, Jan. 6, 2 p.m. Zeitgeist Premier of a local independent documentary about Duluth honoring the centenary of Nelson Mandela. Fiddlefest Saturday, Jan. 6, 2-9 p.m. Sawmill Saloon, Hayward The TrueGrass Trio hosts this annual event in which Northwest Wisconsin musicians gather for a feast of fun with bluegrass, old-time stringband, Celtic and Americana on the menu.  

Sundown on the Jasper County Jewel Saturday, Jan. 6, 6:30 p.m. Norshor Theatre A traveling band is booked to play what appears to be a run-down shell of a theater and the eccentric owner takes them through a historic retelling of the venue’s past in this original musical staged by BOLD Choice Theatre Company.  

Charlie Parr, Alan Sparhawk Tuesdays in January, 7:30 p.m. Cedar Lounge Two of the Twin Ports’ musical claims to fame (other than Bob Dylan, Trampled by Turtles and the drummer for R.E.M.) perform a month-long residency at the Cedar. Alan hits the stage at 7:30, Charlie at 8:30.  

Drew Anderson Every other Thursday from Jan. 11, 8 p.m. Fitger’s Brewhouse Anderson brings a fresh perspective with a guitar style that gracefully spans genres, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere perfect for winter nights.
