Mayor Mia! Fri. & Sat., Dec. 22, 23, 29 & 30, 7:30 p.m. Studio 4, The Depot Rubber Chicken's annual holiday sketch comedy revue looks back at events of the past year. Highlights include a Broadway musical celebration of Emily Larson's mayoral life, Mad Max MnDOT apocalyptic freeway construction, street names for Minnesota marijuana and indiscrete DECC jokes.
Todd Eckart's Holiday Show Saturday, Dec. 23, 7-10 p.m. Belknap Lounge Todd is known for his charismatic performances covering everyone from Elvis to Buddy Holly to the Everly Brothers. Tonight he plays favorite songs from the Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr.) along with some time-honored holiday classics.
McCullough Brothers Sunday, Dec. 24, 6:30 p.m. The Landing, Two Harbors The rarest of events, an actual show on Christmas Eve. Local TV weatherman Hunter McCullough and brother Colton, Two Harbors natives and half of the Northwood’s Band, perform acoustic covers of classic rock and country songs.
Christmas for Orphans Monday, Dec. 25, 12-4 p.m. Ammo’s Evergreen Tavern, Cable Open for anyone who is around with nowhere to go or nothing to do on Christmas Day. Evergreen puts out sandwiches and you can bring a dish to pass around.
Adam Herman Tuesday, Dec. 26, 6 p.m. Sir Benedict’s Author, archaeologist. gyro enthusiast, singer/songwriter and leading man of the roots rock band The Slamming Doors plays an array of originals and covers and always puts on a great show.
Mingus Nog Festival Wednesday, Dec. 27, 7 p.m. Vikre Distillery Duluth Owls Club Big Band and the Ah Yum Quartet perform the music of jazz great Charles Mingus while the Vikre serves Mingus’ legendary (and boozy) “5-Star Rapturous Deadly Holiday Eggnog Recipe,” as his widow Sue Mingus calls it.
Belfast Cowboys Thursday, Dec. 28, 7:30 p.m. The West Theatre A nine-piece, horn-driven band from Minneapolis that specializes in the music of Van Morrison, mixing rock, blues, roots and soul sounds. Led by veteran songwriter and guitarist Terry Walsh, the Cowboys have consistently packed houses since 2002.
