Great Northern Rodeo Classic Sept. 1-3 Head of the Lakes Fairground
Drag Me to Pride Aug. 31-Sept. 4 Duluth & Superior Pride Festival returns starting with the mayor's reception at the Depot on Thursday, followed by art exhibits, dances, block parties, drag shows, the festival at Bayfront Park all day Saturday and the parade in Superior Sunday.
Great Northern Rodeo Classic Sept. 1-3 Head of the Lakes Fairground A big little rodeo on Labor Day weekend, celebrating its 32nd year with up to 7,000 spectators per performance.
Port Wing Fish Boil Saturday, Sept. 2, 2 p.m. Port Wing Town Hall Annual tasty tradition in Wisconsin with boiled lake trout cooked over an open fire plus potatoes, onions and cole slaw. Food served 2-7 p.m. (rain or shine), live music by Dave Ujke 1-4 p.m. and The Leftovers of Badge 5-9 p.m.
Pig Out Sunday, Sept. 3, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. White Winter Winery End-of-summer tradition in Iron River, Wis., a BBQ with pork sliders. Music by the progressive-aggressive jamband Floydian Slip starts at noon. Bring a lawn chair.
Martin Devaney Tuesday, Sept. 5, 6 p.m. Sir Benedict’s Known as both “the unofficial mayor of St. Paul” and "the ubiquitous barroom bard,” Devaney has crossed the country for the past 20 years playing both solo and with collaborators, and has fostered community through his record labels Eclectone and Pig's Eye.
Concerts for Recovery Weds., Sept. 6, 7:30 p.m. DECC Symphony Hall Thursday, Sept. 7, 8:30 p.m. Bayfront Festival Park Big Top Chautauqua’s Blue Canvas Orchestra performs Wednesday at the DECC and Mick Sterling Thursday at Bayfront in a two-night recognition of Duluth Bethel’s 150th birthday, plus a celebration of mental health and recovery from substance abuse.
Superior Porchfest Thursday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m. Girl Scout Point, Billings Park Enjoy a beautiful sunset and fireside jam with the last porchfest gathering for the summer. Music by the Wasmund Bergsven Wells Trio, Severio Mancieri, Lioness and SonofMel.
