I'll Make An Exception: A Performing Arts Collection Friday, June 30, 8 p.m. Studio 4 An evening of new and innovative choreographic works from local and national artists who have donated their time to create and perform this exceptional evening of dance and performance art. This unique event is community-driven and not-for-profit.
Hovland Arts Festival Sat. & Sun., July 1 & 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hovland Town Hall A tiny town in the upper corner of the North Shore also happens to be a colony of fine artists and crafters. This semi-annual event showcases their works for sale, has live music and is even dog-friendly.
Aidan McCluskey Saturday, July 1, 6:30 p.m. Caddy Shack Aidan McClusky won Acme’s Funniest Person Contest in 2018, then quit comedy for various personal reasons. He’s enjoying a revival, headlining stages throughout Minnesota and performing sold out shows in the Dakotas. With Alexy Avery.
Indecent Proposal video shoot Saturday, July 1, 9 p.m. Spurs on First Music video production of the band’s new single “Late in Morning.” The band will give away free merch to those who are the most indecent, saying, “Let’s get indecent, Duluth! Let’s give them something to talk about!” Sounds like tempting fate, but also as a fun time.
Dennis VanAlstine Memorial Car & Motorcycle Show Tuesday, July 4, 1-5 p.m. Tower Avenue from Belknap to Broadway In between the July 4 parade and the concert & fireworks at Barker’s Island, this annual event takes place in memory of its founder, drag racer Dennis “The Menace.” With music by Flipside and PB&J and a pinup contest hosted by Bordertown Betties.
Concerts on the Pier Wednesdays in July & August, 6:30 p.m. Glensheen Mansion Bands play on the historic pier jutting out into Lake Superior. Guests can connect with neighbors and friends, play lawn games, eat and drink and sit by a lakeside campfire. This season launches with The Slamming Doors.
