Hottest Music Acts in Duluth Right Now

Felicity Bosk

Duluth is a musical city with no shortage of live shows ranging every genre. Being a part of that local scene is an exciting part of the Duluth experience. It’s still a few months to our next Homegrown so indulge in Twin Ports music by going to shows and listening to KUMD and KUWS. This list should help you learn more about bands that have been creating some excitement around town this summer.

One Less Guest
This band made their Homegrown debut this spring and have been all over the place ever since. They have had shows nearly every day this summer, including performing at All Pints North. The group shows no signs of slowing down as they prepare to perform at Empire Coffee Sept. 20.

Ingeborg von Agassiz
To get a feel of Duluth, listen to her song “Oh the Hillside” that captures the city perfectly. Von Agasiz plays shows nearly nightly around the Twin Ports, cementing herself as one of Duluth’s most active musicians. Catch her every Friday night at the Cedar Lounge.

Charlie Parr
Parr has been a favorite of Duluthians for a long time and his fan base continues to grow internationally. His new self-titled album comes out Sept. 27. His tour doesn’t have him stopping in Duluth or Superior but we know he will probably play a few shows here throughout the next year. He has a break between his European and US tour dates during which he will make a stop in Duluth to play at Wussow’s Concert Cafe One Week Live Sept. 23.

Jacob Mahon & The Salty Dogs

“Jacob Mahon and the Salty Dogs is a high energy 4-6 piece rock band known and remembered for their profuse amounts of sweat,” as it says on their website. They debut their first album as a group this past February, “Hoop Dog Style.” They’ve gained a following as they develop their style as a group and pack the house of any venue they play. Their next show is at Duluth Cider Sept. 13.

Winzige Hosen
A few friends playing German drinking music proving any day can be Oktoberfest. These guys blew the top off Homegrown and have since excited the Twin Ports scene with their dance-tastic tunes. They’re headlining Friday & Saturday night of Duluth’s Oktoberfest celebration at Bayfront Sept. 13 & 14. They’ll also make a One Week Live appearance Sept. 29.

Crunchy Bunch
This DJ/Producer collective has the mission to get you to dance, shake, or groove. They can be frequently found playing at Spurs or Blush but really they’re everywhere. Their next show is at Vikre on Sept. 11.

Mallards
You’ll know this band when you see them live because of the inflatable mallard on stage with them. Well, that was until an unfortunate incident at Homegrown. This band brings energy to the stage like no other and attracts large crowds of avid fans. Their next gig is Oct. 12 at Duluth Cider.
