With the Christmas season upon us cafes and cocktail lounges are adding seasonal beverages to their drink menus. The Spirit Room has a list of hot alcoholic beverages to warm your heart and soul as the days get colder. The drink I got, called the Mele Kalikimaka, made this season a little more bright.

Featured Bartender

Lindsey Graskey is the general manager of the Spirit Room and was behind the bar mixing drinks when I stopped by. She was excited to show off all the warm winter creations they were offering. She also does the social media, which if you follow them, you know that’s a job she is good at.

What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?

“I like bartending during the Christmas season because so many people I don’t always see come back in town for the holidays and stop by,” said Graskey. She also likes singing along to Christmas songs.

Mele Kalikimaka is a Hawaiian Christmas song popularized Bing Crosby in 1950. The drink is composed of Cherry Schnapps, Coconut Schnapps, hot coco, some Tom and Jerry’s on top and a cherry. Cherry & chocolate I feel is too often the winter drink after thought but it a flavor combination treasure.

How is it?

It’s different to have a warm cocktail but its a very good different. It’s chocolate and creaminess were blended evenly with cherry in every sip. The coconut flavor wasn’t too powerful at all but gave the drink that overall beack vibe. The Tom & Jerry’s in each sip was a lovely addition.
