What’s the buzz? Lake Superior Honey Company, owned by Jon and Erin Otis, recently applied for a Seeds of Change Community Grant. If they win, the grant will encourage people to replace a portion of their lawn with food for people or bees. As a bonus, this means less of a lawn to mow. 

The Duluth Grill has revamped their menu with several new items. They include spring rolls (the non-fried kind), marinated kale, a steak and wild rice curry bowl, a North Shore twist on paella with wild rice and local fish, and a new version of the lamb shank with mint-infused quinoa pilaf with organic peas and carrots.

The Locally Laid Egg Company is now selling eggs in Indiana. NO, they’re not driving the eggs from up here down there, as that wouldn’t be local. The eggs come from different chickens in Indiana, which are as always allowed to run free and fed with non-GMO feed.

Speaking of local, the Whole Foods Co-op is opening a second location in west Duluth soon. Could Superior be next? We are going with “no” but one can dream.
