Hunting in the North Woods: 2 One-Act Plays

"The Hunting Shack Anniversary Surprise" by Teddie Meronek is about a young woman who is tired of spending her hunting-season-wedding anniversary alone, so she decides to take her celebration to his hunting shack. "The Wild, Wild (Mid) West" by Kathy Laakso is a fast-paced farce about defying the rule of “no girls allowed.” “The Afternoon Buck Song,” written and performed by Ted Pellman, will precede the intermission.

Chorfest

High school students from across the region performing Choral masterworks with a professional orchestra. This year, the performance will include excerpts from Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli (Mass in Time of War), Bach’s “Dona Nobis Pacem” from the Mass in B Minor, and Z. Randall Stroope’s setting of Homeland. Also performing on the program are the UWS A Cappella and Chamber Choirs.

Cost: Adults $5, Seniors $3, Students free

Jessica Michna as "Edith Wilson"

Historical re-enactor Jessica Michna returns to DCHS's History Theatre stage as Edith Wilson, wife of president Woodrow Wilson who, when her husband was partially disabled by a stroke, bore on her shoulders many of the responsibilities of his job. Tickets are $15; Visa, Mastercard, and Discover welcomed.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike

Written by Christopher Durang, “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” which won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, follows aging siblings who share a home where they bicker and complain. When their movie-star sister comes to town with her boy-toy, old resentments flare and so does the comedy.
