LCO Honor the Earth Pow Wow

River Rovers

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve is offering the River Rovers Nature Playgroup for children ages 3-7 starting Thursday, June 14th, 2018 and running every Thursday until August 23rd. Parents or guardians should be in attendance with their children for the duration of the program. No preregistration is necessary. Attendance is free and snacks are provided.

Comprehensive Land Use Plan workshop

St. Louis County has written the initial draft elements of its new proposed Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and is again seeking public feedback and input. A series of workshops have been scheduled throughout the county. Each workshop will include a recap of this first draft land use report, plus opportunity to review and comment on the draft goals and objectives, and the alternative future land use maps. The first draft of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the goals and objectives can be found online at The alternative future land use maps will be made available at the workshops. This project focuses on areas within the county’s zoning jurisdiction. It excludes cities, townships with their own zoning, and state and federal lands A detailed map of the study area can be found on the project website. Lumberjack World Championships

The Lumberjack World Championships showcase over 21 events competing for world records in events ranging from men's and women's logrolling, to chopping, to the exciting pole climb. Over 100 plus competitors' vie for more than $50,000 in prize money, making this one of the largest paybacks for lumberjack competition in the world.
