What You Should Be Wearing For Fall 2014

August 1st marks the entrance of fall clothing into department stores and boutiques alike. This is great news. Fall is by far my favorite season, so I’m clearly excited to share my choice fall looks with you. Why do I love fall fashion? It’s because the colors are easy to coordinate, and it’s a piece of cake to put together outfits that look good. Plus, there’s boots. I love boots. You cannot go wrong with fall. The only downside – winter is right around the corner.

Fall isn’t about patterns or bright colors it’s about simplicity. Take a breather from flower pints and pastels and learn to enjoy the cozier things in life. I’m talking about warm tones and earthy colors, along with sweaters and cardigans. And I’m NOT talking about hoodies or zip ups. I’m talking about real sweaters -wool, cashier, and cotton. Frumpy hoodies are not the way to go. Men and women can get great looking sweaters from Target for $15-20.

Fall is the time where you can look a little rugged and get away with it. Boots and jackets that look rugged are acceptable. Utility jackets and denim jackets that are a little roughed up look great, and warn in is very comfy. I’m all for Chelsea boots and hiking boots because they’re also comfortable. You can wear them every day because they’re practical for Minnesota weather.

Scarves are an accessory both men and women should be wearing this fall. They add dimension to your outfit and can be that brighter pop of color to go along with your neutrals. When you’re layering, this is the extra step you should be taking to complete our outfit. Also, the bigger the scarf is, the better. It will keep you warmer and give you that fall couture look that you should have.

Men – Kanye West, whether you like him or not, is a great style icon. His outfits are flawless, and he’s someone you guys should look to for fall fashion inspiration. Honestly, most men don’t know how to dress, so if you’re confused about how to dress, look at how men in the spotlight dress. They obviously know what they’re doing when it comes to fashion. I’m not saying copy them exactly, get the just of it and throw in your own little twist. Say it with me men, fashion can be fun.

Women – If you’re going to wear knee-high boots or boots that are above the ankle, please please please wear skinny jeans. Trying to stuff excess fabric into your boots looks god-awful. Also these furry boots, UGG boots, and low-rate UGG boot knock offs need to go. They are forever ugly and make me want to puke. They look god on no one. Leave them at home and don’t waste your money on them. Please. I’m begging you. Don’t do it.
